TUNING THE GARAYA

   Tuning the Garaya
Since the birth of the Ngoni, all the way to the garaya, for those who use it to play music, filling our courts with completely new sound for our ears, and more and more precise musical notes, one must wait a good amount of time for the two chords to adjust with the right amount of saliva, lemon juice, and the griots clever tricks and cunning.
If you possess a tuner made for the garaya know that the first string at the right is a "Sol" and the second string at the left is a "Rey".  For the Ngoni (gourmi, mukadu, or Kumbiru): the first string at the right is a "La" and the second at the right is a "Rey".
